Latest information about the CCCA Data Centre on data.ccca

data.ccca is regularly updated and further developed by us. All new functions are provided together in the updates. But also news about projects, presences and other activities of the CCCA Data Center are published here:

New Feature: Individual Baskets!

The new release for data.ccca provides a new powerful tool: Baskets

Baskets allow you to memorize and group datasets according to your individual preferences. This individual data collection can be made available in predefined groups, where you can share your data and working collaborative with your team.  Coming soon, we will provide further special features for your basket like  export to your ftp- home directory.

Have fun and let us know your impressions.

Baskets are accessible for logged in users via the status line:

Radio occultation global gridded datasets

for temperature, geopotential high and specific humidity since 2006, created by Wegener Center Graz are available. These information are stored in NetCDF, the CCCA Data Centre is taking this opportunity to extend the existing visualization tool to more than 3 Dimensions.

We presented this activity on eodc forum 2018 two weeks ago. If you need detailed information, please contact us directly.

Workshop CCCA Data Center - From Metadata to NetCDF, Monday 23. April 13:30

Due to the increasing ussage of Python in the natural sciences, this workshop will provide an overview of useful modules for dealing with data sets and metadata within the  the CCCA Data Centre environment.

How to use the API (application programming interface) at the CCCA Data Centre, short introduction how to analyze and visualize data. How to deal with multidimensional data sets in NetCDF format, averaged in time and space, and results exported to other formats like CSV. This hands on session will be held in german.

Dynamic Data Citation and Subset tool

Dynamic Data Citation and Subset tool developed by CCCA Data Centre were presented at EGU 2018 in Vienna and at the RDA Plenary in Berlin. The oral presentation at EGU was held within the Future Shock Session: Evolving Earth Science Data and Information Systems across the entire research lifecycle. In Berlin we presented our web based tool successfully as a first comprehensive implementation for Dynamic Data Citation.

Citing datasets in an appropriate manner is recognised as good scientific practice. Dealing with the original source as part of the provenance within the data life cycle is an essential basis for research data to carry out verification and reproducibility. To establish a reproducibly of data processes and their re- use, researchers need the ability to identify the exact version of a data set used. The Dynamic Data Citation is used for creating subsets. All relation, versioning and citation text from the origin to subset derivate were adapted automatically, Metadata based on inherited information are created in a dynamic manner as well. Finally a created subset does not need redundant storage consumption, only queries were stored, persistent identified and could be executing again. More information under and “C. Schubert, H. DCAT application for data portals in Europe

News about the DCAT metadata schema - We are working intensively on the new metadata schema (DCAT-AP & GeoDCAT-AP) which will ensure a great deal of interoperability for our users. As a consequence every resource will constitute its own dataset thus increasing search engine exposure of your resources. All resources and datapackages will be transformed to the new schema by the CCCA Datacentre Team thus you are able to benefit from our improvements without any effort.

We hope you'll hear from us soon with the newly implemented metadata schema!

CCCA Data Centre aims that creation of metadata shall be easy for the data provider, interoperable to further specifications like WMO (WIS) or INSPIRE, etc. The CCCA didn’t want to develop a kind of island solution for a Meta Data Schema and their controlled vocabulary.

The DCAT Application profile for data portals in Europe (DCAT-AP) is a specification based on the Data Catalogue vocabulary (DCAT) for describing public sector datasets in Europe. Its basic use case is to enable cross-data portal search for data sets and make public sector data better searchable across borders and sectors. This can be achieved by the exchange of descriptions of datasets among data portals.

In February 2015, the ISA² programme of the European Commission has started an activity to revise the DCAT-AP, based on experience gained since its development in 2013. Please visit:
